South Mountain Fair 2011 Inaugural
Junior/Youth Horse Show

Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 9 am

 RULES

  1. All riders will abide by the rules and regulations of the Mountain Agricultural Society & The South Mountain Fair.
  2. EXHIBTOR FEE: All persons in this show will be required to pay an exhibitor fee.
  3. Rider’s ages are taken as of January 1st of the current year.
  4. *Lead Line is 8 yrs and under lead by a person 15 yrs or older. To be shown in Lead Line Class only
    **Beginners are 12 yrs and under, or in their first year of showing, or have shown in less than 6 classes in 2011. To be shown in Beginner classes only.
    ***Riders showing in Beginner classes are not eligible to show in any other classes except Class 6. Open Showmanship.
  5. ENTRIES: All entries for Section A must be made by 8:30 a.m.. Classes start at 9:00 a.m.. All other entries must be made at least 1 hour prior to showing in Section.
  6. The Show Committee and the Judge reserve the right to alter conditions or to refuse entries.
  7. The JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL. Any exhibitor who is guilty of creating a disturbance whether by openly criticizing the judge or the committee or using obscene language to any judge or official shall therefore forfeit the right to any premium and may be suspended by the Society from exhibiting.
  8. All riders must wear appropriate riding appointments to their style of riding (standing martingales only in Hunter O/F. No flash or figure 8 nosebands allowed) and a helmet with a harness attachment in all over fences classes.
  9. Horses or ponies should be neat, cleaned and in good condition for the show. Unhealthy, poor conditioned and/or lame horses/ponies will be asked to leave the show ring.
  10. A rider is allowed one minute after the first call by in-gate steward to enter ring. If not available at that time, the horse and rider may be eliminated.
  11. Entry fees will ONLY BE REFUNDED upon the presentation of a veterinarian’s certificate, presented to the show Secretary by the day immediately following the Show.
  12. Class changes during the day will require an additional $2.00 per class.
  13. Any protests must be registered to the show committee BY THE RIDER involved before the commencement of the next class.
  14. The Fair Board, the Horse Show Committee and any workers on the day will not be held responsible for loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property in any way involved in the show.
  15. Rain or Shine, NO REFUND.
  16. No Horse/Pony may be shown by more than one rider in any class.
  17. No Cross Entries Allowed between Sections D,E & F.
  18. No new entries will be accepted for a Section once that Section has begun.
  19. IMPORTANT: "All riders under 18 must wear an ASTM approved helmet at all times while mounted"?

POINTS:

Points for Section Champions and High Point Champion will have the following values according to class placing: 1st place - 6 points, 2nd place - 5 points, 3rd place - 4 points, 4th place - 3 points, 5th place - 2 points and 6th place - 1 point.

*Championships will be awarded in Sections C, D, E and F only. Placings in Sections A and B will not count for High Point Champion.

ENTRY FEES:
SECTION A: No Entry Fee
PRE ENTRY: $4.00 per class or $15.00 per Section
POST ENTRY: $6.00 per class or $22.00 per Section

Entries MUST BE MADE TO THE SECRETARY BY THE MONDAY PRIOR TO THE SHOW FOR PRE-ENTRY COSTS. Any entries after the above date will be considered post entries.

English or Western Tack may be used in Sections A, B and C only.

The following Sections are not to start before 11:00 a.m.
There will be a Break immediately following Class 6 to allow for tack change and warm up.
