2010 Field Crop Competition
Hay, Corn, Soybeans, White(Dry) Beans, Spring Wheat (Section 50)
(A). Hay Competition: Two flakes of hay, four inches thick, from the competitors entered field to be
exhibited at the fair.
(B). Corn Competition: Six stalks of corn from the competitors entered field to be exhibited at the fair. (Section 50, Item 2).
(C). Soybean Competition: Field judging only done in August. Six soybean plants (root intact) to be exhibited at the fair.
(D). White Bean (Dry Bean) Competition: Field judging done in late July or early August. Six plants (root intact) to be exhibited at the fair.
(E). Spring Wheat Competition : Field judging to be completed in late July or early August . Ten pounds of grain to be exhibited at the fair ( Grain sample from the current (2010) crop. )
Rules:

Each Class must have at least 5 entries and 5 fields scored by the judge.

A competitor may enter all competitions but will be confined to one entry in each and may enter in competitions conducted by only one society. Two or more persons working a farm in partnership may make one entry in each competition.

Entries are limited to members who have paid annual membership to M.T.A.S. or membership fees will be deducted from prize monies.

Fields must be at least five acres in size.

Field to be scored on the following basis: General Appearance. uniformity of Stand, Yield Potential, Freedom of Insects and Diseases.

Entries for Hay Competition to be in the hands of Cliff Metcalfe (Chairperson of Field Crops), prior to fair, while judging other field crops.

The Chairperson will keep in close touch with the competitors and the competitors should notify the Chairperson at least four days before he intends to harvest the crop. This will give the Chairperson time to notify the judge.
Note: Both Field and Fair Exhibits must be entered to win prizes.
Field Score Prize Money: 1st - $22.00, 2nd - $20.00, 3rd - $18.00, 4th - $16.00, 5th - $14.00
